Charles Fuller was
appointed Dean of the Bernice Young Jones School of Fine Arts at OBU
in April, 2004. Until that time he had held the position of Director
of Choral Activities. He holds the BME degree (1979) from Baylor
University, the Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting and
Literature (1981) from West Texas
State University, and the D. M. A. degree in Choral Music (1989)
from Arizona State University.
He has also done additional study at Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary, Westminster Choir
College, and the Inlingua
Language Institute in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Previous choral positions
have included West Texas State University,
Azle High School in Azle, Texas, and East
Texas Baptist University.
He has served over 20 churches as part-time or interim minister
of music.
He is active as a clinician
and adjudicator throughout the Southwest. His work as a writer
and researcher has included The
Choral Journal, working groups for both the American
Choral Directors Association and the International
Federation for Choral Music, and editions of early music published
by Alliance Music Publications.
His work for ACDA includes
participation in the development of The Foundation of Artistry:
An Annotated Bibliography of Distinctive Choral Literature for high
School Mixed Choirs. He has also helped in the development
of the MUSICA database for the
IFCM and currently serves on the MUSICA Board. He has served
on the Executive Council of the Southern
Baptist Church Music Conference, and is currently a board member
of ChoralNet , Inc., the
internet portal for choral music. He also chairs the ACDA
National Committee on Technology.
